Utility representation of lower separable preferences
نویسنده
چکیده
Topological separability is crucial for the utility representation of a complete preference relation. When preferences are incomplete, this axiom has suitably de ned counterparts: upper separability and lower separability (Ok (2002)). We consider the problem of representing an incomplete preference relation by means of a vector-valued utility function; we obtain representation results under the lower separability assumption. Our results extend the main representation theorems by Ok (2002) in terms of the separability axioms. Other-Regarding Preferences with Player-Dependent Coefficients
Using a system of axioms, this paper develops a general utility model of other-regarding preferences when opponents are unfamiliar, but they are not strictly anonymous in the sense that they may share some history. Based on two key axioms, an individual’s preferences over a vector of probability distributions are additively separable in the decision maker’s own outcome and each opponent’s outco...
متن کاملThe Income Effect under Uncertainty: A Slutsky-like Decomposition with Risk Aversion
We study the effect of changing income on optimal decisions in the multidimensional expected utility framework with strongly separable preferences. Using the Kihlstrom and Mirman (1974) (KM) utility representation, we show that the effect of changing income can be decomposed into a modified income effect linked to the classical income effect and an effect representing attitudes to risk, modifie...
متن کاملInvestigating the Role of real Money Balances in Households' Preferences function in the Framework of the Assets Pricing Models (M-CCAPM): Case study of Iran
In this paper, we try to develop and modify the basic model of the consumption-based capital asset pricing model by adding the growth in real money balances rate as a risk factor in the household's utility function as (M-CCAPM). For this purpose, two forms of utility function with constant relative risk aversion (CRRA) preferences and recursive preferences have been used such that M1 and M2 are...
متن کاملMean - Dispersion Preferences
The starting point for this paper is the variational preference model introduced by Maccheroni et al [2006]), which includes Gilboa-Schmeidler multiple-prior preferences and Hansen-Sargent multiplier preferences. First, we show that any variational preferences admit a `primal' representation with a natural interpretation: a `mean' expected-utility of the act minus a `dispersion measure' that de...
متن کاملStrategyproof Mechanisms for Additively Separable Hedonic Games and Fractional Hedonic Games
Additively separable hedonic games and fractional hedonic games have received considerable attention. They are coalition forming games of selfish agents based on their mutual preferences. Most of the work in the literature characterizes the existence and structure of stable outcomes (i.e., partitions in coalitions), assuming that preferences are given. However, there is little discussion on thi...
